Green tea is now everywhere in America. Even Starbucks carries flavorful green tea items and even if you lived in countryside, you could find green tea at supermarket in your neighbors. Along with the popularity for drinking and the enthusiasm from health-conscious crowd, green tea has been attracted an attention from beauty industry as well. If it is good for people’s inside health, why not outside health, skincare for?
There already exist many beauty products, like lotions, shampoos, soaps or extract amplifier as dietary supplement. For example, the purpose of lotion is to soothe, soften and moisturize. It does this by containing emollients, which add a layer of oil to the skin to prevent water loss. As the makers of beauty products experimented, they noticed the effects of green tea are, not just keep skin hydrated, but also to resist the onset of aging. Vitamins A and E, which contain anti-oxidants, started being used as preservatives. Using Aqua-Collagen-Gel as a finishing veil on your skin after you use any green tea enriched products might be very effective to seal all good things to your skin.
Karen Dunlap, a tea sommelier and representative with In Pursuit of Tea, described the beauty effects on tea, and said "Anti-oxidants are produced by plants as a way of protecting themselves from damaging effects of the sun. We can absorb them by eating or drinking. These anti-oxidants help our own cells, including skin cells, to stay healthy from the damaging effects from our environment. Plus, the tea plant is famous for containing an unusually high amount of anti-oxidant. Why don’t we use such good thing for our skins directly?"
If you are a tea drinker, naturally it is already a part of your habit for skincare regimen. If you have not, it does good to start drinking tea for sure and even you can make your own tea beauty products at home. According to Karen, a simple way is making a concentrate - add loose tea to unheated, filtered water. Let it steep, at room temperature, for an hour.
This concentrate can be used when you rinse your skin as liquid soap.
